LAS CASCADAS PERDIDAS - THE LOST WATERFALLS TRAIL

The Cascadas Perdidas or Lost Waterfalls hiking trail is one of our favorites in Boquete and consists of 3 waterfalls, all within a lush and green cloud forest.  Our family has hiked this trail various times, but because of time constraints, weather conditions, or too much mud, until now we have only been able to make it to the second waterfall.  This past week, Greg and I hiked the trail again, and since we are at the tail end of the dry season, the entire trail was open and we were able to reach the 3rd waterfall!  This trail is one of my favorites, and it's always fun to hike through the dense cloud forest, spot new and interesting plants, and of course, enjoy the spectacular beauty of the waterfalls at the end of a nice long hike.

Each time we hike this trail we see new and different plants, birds, and insects.  This purple and white flower was a new discovery and is a beauty!

Hiking in the dense cloud forest from the second to the third waterfall was a lot of fun.  While parts of the trail only had a slight incline, others were incredibly steep, and we even needed to use a rope to hoist ourselves up - a great adventure!

After enjoying a fabulous hike, we walked back to the car and stumbled upon these gorgeous colorful bromeliads.

We love hiking in Boquete and appreciate the fact that within a short drive from our house, we can enjoy these incredible hikes in the cloud forest.  It's like being in another world...
