FÉRIA INTERNACIONAL DE SAN JOSÉ DE DAVID

Each year in March, the Féria Internacional de San José de David is held in David (the  second largest city in Panama and a 45-minute drive from Boquete).  During this 11-day extravaganza, Panamanians come from all over the country to enjoy the live music, food and drink, agricultural displays, rodeo, folkloric traditions, rides for kids, farm animals, and vendors from various countries in Central and South America selling their goods.  I had the opportunity go to the Fair not just once, but twice, to experience it all!

Tons of farm animals, all numbered, are sold at the Fair.

Many people come to the Féria de David for the food.  Here you see salchichas (hot dogs) and pollo en palito (chicken skewers) all typical food at a Panamanian celebration.

I loved sampling the food at the Fair, and these three men were happy to have their picture taken.  Their beef skewers were deliciosos!

A large section of the Fair consists of a multitude of agricultural displays, including farm equipment, fruits and vegetables, various trees, and ornamental plants.  This flower is a beauty!

Fabulous firework shows in the evening!

Women and men came from all over Panama to entertain the crowds with their folkloric dancing.  I loved watching the various dances, representing the different provinces throughout Panama.
